THE SOUTHSIDE RIDERS ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS

  1. AGE: PERSONS WISHING TO JOIN MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE.
  2. JOINING: PERSONS WISHING TO JOIN, MUST BE AN ACTIVE MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIAST, BE SPONSORED BY A CURRENT MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING, SUBMIT TO AN INTERVIEW AND BE VOTED UPON AT A MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MEET CRITERIA ON BACKGROUND CHECK.
  3. REGULAR MEETINGS: REGULAR SOUTHSIDE RIDERS ASSOCIATION MEETINGS ARE HELD THE SECOND TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH, AT A PLACE TO BE ANNOUNCED ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS. ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY BUT HIGHLY ENCOURAGED. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS THE FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH AND ALL MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND.
  4. OFFICERS: OFFICERS SHALL BE VOTED UPON ANNUALLY. ANY MEMBER WISHING TO NOMINATE A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING FOR AN OFFICE WILL DO SO AT THE SEPTEMBER MEETING. PERSON(S) BEING NOMINATED MAY DECLINE AT THAT TIME. THE VOTING FOR OFFICERS WILL BE IN NOVEMBER OF EACH YEAR. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE END OF THE NOVEMBER MEETING. NEW OFFICERS WILL TAKE OFFICE JANUARY 1ST AND CONTINUE TO SERVE IN THEIR ELECTED POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31ST. POSITIONS NOT FILLED OR BECOME VACANT CAN BE APPOINTED BY THE BOARD AY ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR.CRITERIA FOR OFFICE NOMINIES WLL BE AS FOLLOWS.
  • PRESIDENT:
    • One year in good standing with Southside Riders.
    • Cannot be on the Board of Directors with another Motorcycle Org.
    • Must have served on the S.R.A. Board of Directors.
    • Must have been nominated by a member of the S.R.A.
  • VICE PRESIDENT: –
    • One year in good standing with Southside Riders. – Cannot be on the Board of Directors with another Motorcycle Org.
    • Must have served on the S.R.A. Board of Directors.
    • Must have been nominated by a member of the S.R.A.
  • OTHER BOARD MEMBERS
    • ALL OTHER S.R.A. BOARD OF DIRECTORS MUST HAVE BEEN IN GOOD STANDING FOR ONE YEAR
    • NOMINATED BY A MEMBER OF THE S.R.A.

 

  1. MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING: THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBES A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING.
  • DUES ARE UP TO DATE.
  • NEVER USE S.R.A. IN A MANNER TO PROFIT YOURSELF.
  • ATTEND AT LEAST SIX MEETINGS/EVENTS PER YEAR OUT OF 24 MEETINGS, PLUS ANY FUND RAISING EVENTS.
  • NEVER BREAK ANY LOCAL, FEDERAL OR STATE LAWS AT ANY R.A. FUNCTION.
  • NEVER TALK ABOUT ANOTHER MEMBER IN A NEGATIVE MANNER IN A WAY THAT IS DETRIMENTAL TO S.R.A.
  • NEVER DISRESPECTING THE BY-LAWS OR THE PURPOSE OF S.R.A.
  • ALWAYS REPRESENT S.R.A. IN A RESPECTABLE MANNER.
  • NEVER WRONG/CHEAT OR DEFRAUD S.R.A. OR ONE OF ITS MEMBERS, OUT OF VALUE OF ANYTHING.
  • NEVER DISRUPTS OR DESTROYS S.R.A./MEMBER OR GUEST PROPERTY OR COMMITS ACTS OF VIOLENCE AT S.R.A. FUNCTIONS.
  • NEVER ACTS IN A DISRUPTIVE MANNER AT S.R.A. FUNCTIONS.
  • A BOARD MEMBER UPHOLDING THE DUTIES OF THAT POSITION.
  1. RULE OF ORDER: DURING MEETING’S ALL MEMBERS ARE ASKED TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE. ITEMS DISCUSSED WILL BE FUTURE RIDES, EVENTS IN WHICH WE WILL PARTICIPATE, ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP UPDATES, BIRTH DATES FOR THAT MONTH, ETC. ALL DECISIONS FINALIZED AT THE MEETINGS WILL BE VOTED ON BY MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE WITH A MAJORITY RULE.
  2. POSITIVE REPRESENTATION: MEMBERS NEED TO ACT IN A WAY THAT PROMOTES THIS ASSOCIATION IN A POSITIVE MANNER TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND OTHER S.R.A. MEMBERS AND ABIDE BY ALL LOCAL LAWS AT ALL TIMES.
  3. DISAGREEMENTS: IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENCES WITH OTHERS ON CERTAIN ISSUES. MEMBERS SHOULD ATTEMPT TO ALWAYS PROMOTE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE. AS AN ASSOCIATION, WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT ON MANY OCCASIONS, THE BEST SOLUTION TO A SITUATION IS TO DISAGREE. DISAGREEMENTS SHOULD BE SETTLED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS.
  1. HELP THY BROTHER: A MEMBER SHOULD NEVER LEAVE ANOTHER MEMBER STRANDED OR ALONE. WE SHOULD ALWAYS STOP AND RENDER AID TO OTHER MOTORCYCLISTS IF THEY ARE IN DISTRESS.
  2. HONORARY MEMBERSHIP: HONORARY MEMBERSHIPS ARE GIVEN OUT TO PERSON(S) THAT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FEEL HAVE DONE AN OUT­STANDING JOB IN SUPPORTING OR REPRESENTING SOUTHSIDE RIDERS THESE HONORARY MEMBERSHIPS ARE VOTED ON BY THE BOARD AND ARE GIVEN FOR TWELVE(12) MONTH PERIOD ONLY. A PERSON WHO IS AN HONORARY MEMBER CAN NOT HOLD A BOARD POSITION UNTIL AFTER A 12-MONTH PERIOD, OR IF THEY WISH TO BECOME A REGULAR MEMBER (A DUES PAYING MEMBER) THEY CAN BE NOMINATED FOR A POSITION ON THE BOARD.
  3. PAST PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP: PAST PRESIDENTS ARE A LIFE TIME MEMBER AND ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY MEMBERSHIP DUES.
  4. PROBATIONARY: SHOULD THE SITUATION ARISE THAT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS BE NOTIFIED OF A MEMBER’S TOTAL DISRESPECT OF THE BY­LAWS OR THE MEMBER IS NOT IN GOOD STANDING, IT WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THAT MEMBER IN THE FORM OF A “VERBAL” SHOULD THE MEMBER’S MISCONDUCT CONTINUE, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS WILL PLACE THAT PERSON ON A PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF 60 DAYS.
  5. TERMINATION: IN THE EVENT THE MEMBER CONTINUES TO DISOBEY THE BY-LAWS, OR MAINTAINS THEIR STATUS AS A MEMBER NOT IN GOOD STANDING, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MAY VOTE TO TERMINATE THAT IF TERMINATED, A MEMBER MUST SELL HIS/HER INSIGNIA BACK TO THE ASSOCIATION. IF A MEMBER RESIGNS ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS, HE/SHE MUST SUBMIT THE RESIGNATION IN WRITING ALONG WITH THEIR SRA INSIGNIA TO THE PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT, OR MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR. ONCE THIS STEP HAS BEEN COMPLETED, THE RESIGNING MEMBER WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR ANY SRA INSIGNIA. ANY DUES THAT HAVE BEEN PAID WILL BE FORFEITED. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MAY TERMINATE A MEMBER WITHOUT NOTICE IF THE SITUATION WARRANTS THAT ACTION.
  6. COMPLAINTS: ANY COMPLAINT (S) MUST BE FILED IN WRITING TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
  7. DISSOLVEMENT: SHOULD FOR SOME UNFORSEEN REASON, THE SRA DISSOLVE, ANY AND ALL FUNDS HELD BY THE SRA, INC. WILL BE DIVIDED EQUALLY AMONG THE CHARITIES ESTABLISHED BY THE CURRENT MEMBERS OF S.R.A.
  8. REVISIONS: THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MAY REVISE THE BY-LAWS AT ANY TIME A REVISION IS DEEMED NECESSARY. MEMBERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AT THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING. ANY MEMBER MAY CHALLENGE ALL DECISIONS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS IF THE CHALLENGE IS MADE IN WRITING.
